My Cheerleading Career

I started cheerleading when I was in seventh grade. I cheered for a Pop Warner team. We were absolutely terrible but I got to compete and cheer at football games so it was a new experience for me. In eighth grade I cheered for my middle school. I also got to compete and we went state and were ranked among the top ten. Before I tried out for my high schools cheerleading team I tore my ACL doing gymnastics. I didn't find out that I tore it until four months later so I tryed out with a torn ACL and competed on it all year. I made the junior varsity team as a freshman. We placed second at regionals and eighth at state. During our competition at the Chicago Bulls Arena I hurt my knee in the middle of the routine and that was my last competition for the year. However my team did place first at nationals the next month. My sophomore year of high school I had ACL surgery and was unable to cheer so I did physical therapy for a year instead. My junior year I cheered again but on varsity. We got eighth at state that year. My senior year I also cheered varsity and was captain. Senior year was by far my favorite year of cheerleading. We qualified for state and placed 14th which was not good at all but it's the truth. We did better at nationals. My favorite part of cheerleading was cheering at the football games. I hope to maybe cheer here at Ball State but I wanted to take a year off.
